Education:  Bsc Biochemistry including Professional Training Year from Cardiff University  

Current Job Title: PhD Student

Date: Jan 2020 - present 

Description of project/duties and funder: Developing a vaccine against Mycobacterium tuberculosis by manipulating Killer T-cell activity. Aims to determine whether M.smegmatis reactive T-cells recognise M.tuberculosis-infected cells and if so, through what recognised molecule. Also, to generate killer T-cells against M.tuberculosis cells and use this information for a pre-clinical TB vaccine study. Funded from the estate of Mr David Mills and Mrs Mary Mills in memory of Thomas John Evans F.R.C.S, R.A.F.V.

Description of project/duties: On-going projects to produce soluble T-cell receptors and peptide-MHCs to determine crystal structures and refold protein complexes for binding assays.

Description of project/duties: Project to characterise a novel T-cell epitope from successful cancer immunotherapy and brief investigation into ERAP proteins in ankylosing spondylitis.
